Integrating Sustainable Living, Alternative Healing, Nature-based Education and Plant Studies
Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated with plants. From a young age I worked throughout the summer and fall months in my family’s garden. During college I had the opportunity to work with a few different farms and gardens in Ithaca and while abroad in Findhorn, Scotland.
In my apartment I grow a variety of plants, which primarily consist of herbs, and houseplants. Last Fall I interned with the Youth Farm Project for three and a half months. I worked both in the field harvesting crops as well as on educational outreach. Currently, I have just started my second season working on a small CSA berry farm on eco-village Ithaca. This spring season I have also just started a community garden plot up at Woods Earth, where I plant to experiment with companion planting, permaculture, and biodynamic gardening.
I am shifting my life towards one of self-reliance, with a huge component involving food production. As I continue to gain farming and gardening experience and develop food preservation techniques, I feel very connected to Earth and plants.
